The quality of products made from resin strongly depends on their molding history. For fiber-reinforced plastics in particular, regardless of the fact whether the reinforcement form is discontinuous or continuous, anisotropic properties like stiffness and strength vary significantly based on the fiber orientation, which itself depends on the molding history. Therefore, it is necessary to accurately incorporate resin flow analysis results into structural analysis to predict the mechanical properties of molded products using CAE. Multiscale analysis is one of the important technologies in this analysis workflow.

This webinar, hosted by Moldex3D and presented by Cybernet, will introduce the technology that links resin flow analysis and structural analysis based on multiscale approach. Multiscale technology enables the observation of anisotropic material behavior and obtaining material constants based on a microstructure FE model that consist of fibers and resin, which include voids in some cases. By compiling material constants for various microstructures as a database, you can accurately map the distribution of fiber orientation to material constants. The multi-scale theory facilitates structural analysis of resin-molded products, addressing not only elastoplastic problems but also diverse nonlinear behaviors such as viscoelasticity, creep, and so on.

What You Will Learn
